7 11 2011

This weeks sole XBLA game is Fusion Genesis.  It comes from Starfire Studios (the studio formed by ex-Rare employees).

Fusion Genesis is an explosive mix of space adventure and multiplayer shooter. A cross between diablo and GTA in space, but in a dynamic multiplayer environment – the first of its kind for XBLA.

Retail Releases – Week Of September 27th, 2011

Here are this weeks retail releases, for the week of September 27th, 2011.  So what will you all be picking up this week?  The only thing that I’m getting is X-Men: Destiny.  I hope it turns out to be great, because this is the last chance I’m giving Silicon Knights to win me over.  Too Human was decent, but it could’ve been better.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City coming to us this winter (or summer in the Southern Hemisphere)

5 09 2011

Yes, you will be facing hordes of zombies and majinis yet again. This time, you are cast back in the timeline to when the T-Virus outbreak just occurred somewhere between RE3 and RE4 in Raccoon City. Now here is the interesting part: you won’t be playing as the US special ops, the S.T.A.R or the BSAA. That’s right, you will be playing as an operative employed by the all evil Umbrella Corp. The mission? Erase all traces of evidence that points the finger at Umbrella. You will be battling not just the wrath of hungry zombies, but also the US special forces who have been on your heels ever since the outbreak.

Some new features have been added to this instalment of the series. You will be able to melee while doing a 360-degree full turn, instantly draw out your sidearm when reloading your shotgun just takes too long with that zombie showing its teeth right in your face, and acquire the ability to gain experience and level up to unlock customizable upgrades for your weapons. You will also be playing as one of the four operatives including Four Eyes, a ruthless scientist-assassin who is capable of mind-controlling the different types of the infected through a special type of dart.

When: Q4, 2011

Available on: All three major gaming platforms.

So what games will you all be picking up this week?

Xbox Live Arcade Releases – August 24th, 2011

22 08 2011

So we get a triple feature this week after the last few weeks only getting one (I’m guess because of the Summer Of Arcade).  Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online will probably please a lot of fans, but the one I’m looking at is the Crazy Machine Elem…this just sounds cool.

Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Ed – 1200 MSP
• Street Fighter Continues – Set in a timeline after Street Fighter IV, follow the next chapter in the epic Street Fighter universe.
• GGPO-Enabled Online Play – SFIII: TSOE will be the first pure fighting game to use true GGPO-enabled online functionality, allowing for pixel-perfect arcade play online, including a matching system and leaderboards.
• Unchanged Arcade Gameplay – Utmost care was taken to maintain an arcade perfect experience and not to change the deep gameplay system that has become revered as one of the most sophisticated in the fighting genre.
• Upgraded Visuals – With new art and UI matched to hand-tuned HD Filtering options, players can customise their viewing experience, even playing in a simulated arcade cabinet.
• YouTube Replay Sharing – Not only will players be able to watch local and global match relpays in-game, but with a click of a button upload replays directly to YouTube and share with the rest of the world.
• Watch with Friends – A new channel that broadcasts a continuous live feed of the best match being played at any given moment, as well as allowing players to search for specific matches to be viewed solo or with friends.
• Special Features and Unlockables – Optional side panel challenges track progress as you push your limits to unlock achievements and rewards.

Crazy Machines Elem. – 800 MSP
In grand Crazy Machines tradition, players must create wacky chain reactions using different parts and accomplish the tasks set out in their mission, from knocking vases over to blowing out candles. Players can also use lots of new parts besides the elements, including cloud machines, pinwheels and flamethrowers.

Crazy Machines Elements has three game modes. In Puzzle mode, players must finish 100 partially-built chain reaction machines using the parts specified to accomplish the various tasks. Inventors can create true chain reaction marvels that obey the laws of physics and not only satisfy the requirements of the task, but also demand some serious brain power, inventiveness and physical out-of-the-box thinking.
Hole in the Wall (for Kinect) – 800 MSP
Whether you play solo or with friends, “Hole in the Wall” challenges you to become a human puzzle piece as you contort to fit through wacky shapes that are cut out into themed walls hurtling towards you. Try to pass your body through the wall to boost your score, or you’ll be pushed straight into the water below! Play through different “show” levels in single or multi player modes (up to 4 competitors), or see if you can handle the challenge of “survival” mode as you attack wall after wall until you drop! Unlock special customization elements for your avatar like a silver spandex suit, helmets, t-shirt and other zany gear as a reward for progress in the game.

Mass Effect 3 – New Squad Combat Trailer and Returning Squad Members

16 08 2011

The anticipation is building up once again. Gamescom just released another trailer showing some of the squad combat elements in the upcoming title.

Hoping to see some familiar faces? Well, you won’t be disappointed. Liara, Garrus and Tali’Zorah are amongst the squad members confirmed to return in Mass Effect 3. Most of the other squad members you encounter in Mass Effect 2 will appear in the new game in some capacity depending on whether they survived the suicide mission.

The launch date has been delayed to March the 6th, 2012 to ‘maximise both quality and commercial success’ of the game according to Ray Muzyka from Bioware.

Lonesome Road DLC Delayed

10 08 2011

Senior Producer Jason Bergman had this to say on a Bethesda Forum

“Hi everyone,

We just wanted to drop in here and let you know that due to circumstances beyond our control, Lonesome Road won’t be out this month. This isn’t due to any major issue with the code or content, but there are lots of factors involved in releasing these things, and one of those is causing us to slip past our intended release date.

We don’t have an exact date yet, but we’re working to get it out as quickly as possible. We’ll be announcing the final date, along with a couple of other interesting FNV-related items in the near future.

However they did release the first image for the DLC.

Exciting isn’t it?
