Just yesterday some new screenshots of Dishonored snuck in. Keeping up with the promotion of Dishonored is Arkhane Studios/Bethesda Softworks as they have not so quietly released a new trailer.

Creepy New Dishonored Screens Roll In

22 08 2012

Dishonored is one of those titles when announced that I was kind “eh” about. A somewhat familiar concept twisted into a different way. But, as more and more of this game is shown off – the more I want it. In fact, it’s pre-ordered already.

Here is a bit of background on the game.

Dishonored is set in Dunwall, an industrial whaling city where strange steampunk- inspired technology and otherworldly forces coexist in the shadows. You are the once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress. Framed for her murder, you become an infamous assassin, known only by the disturbing mask that has become your calling card. In a time of uncertainty, when the city is besieged by plague and ruled by a corrupt government armed with industrial technologies, dark forces conspire to bestow upon you abilities beyond those of any common man – but at what cost? The truth behind your betrayal is as murky as the waters surrounding the city, and the life you once had is gone forever.

Key Features

  • Approach each assassination with your own style of play. Use shadow and sound to your advantage to make your way silently through levels unseen by foes, or attack enemies head-on as they respond to your aggression. The flexible combat system allows you to creatively combine your abilities, supernatural powers and gadgets as you make your way through the levels and dispatch your targets. Improvise and innovate to define your play style.
  • The world of Dishonored reacts to how you play. Move like a ghost and resist corruption, or show no mercy and leave a path of destruction in your wake. Decide your approach for each mission, and the outcomes will change as a result.
  • Teleport for stealth approaches, possess any living creature, or stop time itself to orchestrate unearthly executions! Combining your suite of supernatural abilities and weapons opens up even more ways to overcome obstacles and eliminate targets.  The game’s upgrade system allows for the mastery of deadly new abilities and devious gadgets.
  • Enter an original world envisioned by Half-Life 2 art director Viktor Antonov. Arkane and Bethesda bring you a steampunk city  where industry and the supernatural collide, creating an atmosphere thick with intrigue.  The world is yours to discover.

Here are those creepy screens we mentioned earlier.

Dishonored is scheduled to release October 9th in North America and October 12th in Europe.

Fallout 4 Heading To Boston…?

20 08 2012

Due to the source, I’d take this with a grain of salt as of now. But, according to an anonymous source that may or may not be an employee of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) it looks like Fallout 4 could be headed to Boston as its setting.

“The rumors are true, Fallout 4 will take place in Boston. In case you haven’t heard, Bethesda has recently been scoping out and researching Boston. They also have a strong connection to MIT. I may or may not be an MIT employee. But that’s really all I can say for fear of losing my job.”

The source went on to say, “Apologies for the vagueness of this post. It’s not just my job that worries me, but also getting the f**k sued out of me. Bethesda’s contracts are basically full-proof [sic] so if they were to discover who I am, or rather, who I got this information from, a few people including myself could get into a lot of trouble.”

In addtion another source had this to say, “I’ve been hearing reports from people in the Boston area, where my fellow Fallout-obsessed brother lives, that Bethesda has been in the Boston area doing initial research for Fallout 4. It’s highly speculative, but the main rumors surround Bethesda’s connection to “The Institute”, or what we call the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or M.I.T.”

So again, this is just rumor…but it looks like there may be some truth to it. If true, what historical sites in Boston would you like to visit in the game. One obvious choice would be that famous baseball teams’ stadium…what was their name again?

RAGE Tie-In Novel Now Available

4 09 2011

Honestly, this novel has actually been out for about a week.  Some how it’s release date eluded me.  Maybe because I’m so pumped up about Dead Island.  Either way, it’s out now.  I keep praising developers for being willing to make their games more than just games.  Bioware & Epic Games are great examples.  They both have prequels and sequel books to their video games.  Thus turning an already epic video game franchise into an epic entertainment franchise.

Product Description

From Bethesda, designers of the multi-million selling classics Doom, Quake and Fallout comes the game of 2011. Unmissable, it will be this year’s Call of Duty, Assassins Creed or Halo. Eagerly awaited by the gaming community, RAGE is already being touted as one of the industry’s most innovative first-person shooters, winning numerous awards at E3 2010, including ‘Best Overall Game of Show’ from IGN and three ‘Best of E3’ Game Critics Awards including ‘Best Console Game’.

Set in the not-too-distant future, an asteroid has hit Earth leaving behind a ravaged wasteland. The world was doomed and only so much of the population could be saved. That was what the scientists were saying, at least. So the best and brightest were gathered up and put into stasis deep beneath the surface of the Earth. When they emerge they find the human race has not been wiped out. And people, as resilient as they are, are scraping together a new world from the rubble of the old. This was not what anyone in the Arks expected; a new society where might is right and bandits, gangs and mutants plague the Earth.

This novel delves even deeper into this world and its characters through the pen of Matt Costello – the same person who helped write the story for the game.

About the Author

Matt Costello’s best-selling and award-winning work across all media has meshed game play, technology and story. He is the writer and creator of groundbreaking TV, novels, nonfiction books, and games in both US and UK

 About Bethesda Softworks

26 08 2011

When id Software announces that it’s coming out with a new IP, normally everyones heads turn.  RAGE is no exception, shaping up to be one of the coolest games to be released in 2011.

Rage seems to mix some of the best elements of Fallout, Borderlands, & other similar franchises.  Which is not a bad thing at all.

Here is a summary of RAGE from

Rage is a groundbreaking first-person shooter set in the not-too-distant future after an asteroid impacts Earth, leaving a ravaged world behind. You emerge into this vast wasteland to discover humanity working to rebuild itself against such forces as raider gangs, mutants, and the Authority — an oppressive government regime that has a special interest in you in particular.

Featuring intense first-person action, vehicle combat, an expansive world and jaw-dropping graphics powered by id’s revolutionary idTech 5 technology, Rage continues the legacy of design studio Id Software in delivering an experience like no other.

Rage will hit retailers October 4th, 2011.
