[E3 2011] Halo 4 – My Opinion..

17 06 2011

At this years E3 Microsoft announced a new trilogy that probably sent Halo fans headspinning.  A new Halo trilogy.  For those of you whom have beat Halo 3 on Legendary (or looked up the ending on  youtube) you know all about the “secret ending’ from Halo 3 that preludes into what we all assumed to be Halo 4.

Well, now it is officially announced.  Halo 4 is coming.  But my concern is it coming to Xbox 360 or does Microsoft have it planned for their next generation console?

Now let me state that this is pure speculation on my part.  I have not seen any proof that Mircosoft is going to release this on a new console, it’s just a hunch.  So bear with me here.

Id Software’s John Carmack says that the” new console will be here in a couple of years. ”  That being said, there are also games in development for the new console already, such as Time Splitters 4.

So here is my question to you loyal readers.  Do you really think that Microsoft won’t release Halo 4 for their new console instead of the Xbox 360?  Let’s face it…Halo is one of the best selling franchises that Microsoft owns.   So with developers already working on games for the next-gen consoles I would think that Microsoft would be pushing for Halo 4 to be released on the next-gen consoles as a “console seller”.

Maybe I’m wrong about this, but with developers already claming that the next-gen console will debut at next years E3 and have a potential release date for early 2013 this seems very very likely to me.  Granted, Microsoft could release it for both platforms in order to sooth the angry tide of people that just bought the Xbox 360 Slim & Kinect less than 1-2 years ago.  But who knows….maybe I’m right, maybe I’m wrong.

What do you think?

Rumor Mill: Gears of War: Exile & Halo HD To Appear At E3 2011

30 05 2011

I’m sure by now we have all heard the rumor of Microsoft making a Gears of War title for the Xbox 360 Kinect. Gears of War: Exile is the name that has been labeled for this, but there has been no confirmation if this is a Kinect title or if it’s not.

That being said, Microsoft has said that this years’ E3 they are going all out for the hardcore Kinect audience which has not games to date at this point to satisfy them.  So could Gears of War: Exile be a Kinect title? Yes, it’s extremely possible.  Will it appear at E3?  I have no doubt that it will show it’s face at E3.  Will we see it soon? Well…if it’s anything like the Kinect: Star Wars game….well, that’s all I will say.

Also, with the 10 year anniversay of Halo coming up, 343 Studios might be cooking up something as well for this years’ E3.  Rumors are abound of a Halo: Combat Evolved HD upgrade coming out soon.  That would not suprise me at all seeing how there is not a current Halo game announced.  We all know how Microsoft likes to showboat one of their biggest franchises at E3.

So do I think Halo HD is coming.  Definately.  There are way too many magazine publications talking about it for it not to be true.  I just wonder if they are going for a full retail release or if they are going to release it on Xbox Live the way they are doing Resident Evil HD?

[E3]KOTOR MMO Rumors Are True…Sadly

17 07 2008

Here’s the post from Joystiq.com

Portfolio.com just published a short excerpt of its interview with EA boss John Riccitiello who tells the site that it’s “got two of the most compelling MMOs in the industry in development” including “the one that people are dying for us to talk to them about — in partnership with Lucas, coming out of BioWare.” One doesn’t need to connect too many dots to arrive at the conclusion that BioWare is returning to the Star Wars universe with a Knights of the Old Republic MMO.

Of course, this product has been rumored for … well, for a long time. Separately confirming a BioWare / LucasArts collaboration and a BioWare MMO project lead to certain obvious conclusions and countless other rumors and leaks seemed to do everything but confirm (and some denied) the project’s existence. Though it would appear Riccitiello wasn’t quite ready to put a name on that project – it’s Portfolio.com connecting those dots – by referencing that this is the game that “people are dying for us to talk to them about” he clearly seems to be pointing to KOTOR.

[Update: We’ve just spoken with N. Evan Van Zelfden, the writer of the report, who told us that when asked specifically if this game was “KOTOR Online”, Riccitiello responded unequivocally, “Yes.” So, there you have it – sounds like we can take off our skeptical glasses.]

I personally didn’t want to see KOTOR go MMO because it has been one of the best single player experiences I’ve ever had on a game.  It’s almost like no one cares about the single player games anymore…  I get the demand for a Star Wars MMO is really high…but why’d it have to be KOTOR, why not Battlefront or another one…  Oh well, I guess this is one I won’t be picking up.

[E3]I Am Alive Unveiled At Ubisoft Conference

16 07 2008

I Am Alive is the name, and there are not much details about it right now except that it’s obiviously some kind of a survival game.  Also, it’s coming to “current-generation consoless”. What’d really be cool if it was a game based of I Am Legend or Cloverfield…but we won’t get our hopes up.

One person pointed out (which I completely missed) is that the guy wanting the bottle of water is the same guy who said “I’ll see you upstairs”.

So, are you interested?  I know I am!

[E3] E3 Day One Highlights Part One

15 07 2008

Okay, so we’re going to cut to the finer points and highlights of day one for you so that you don’t have to read through all the other stuff to get to the good parts.

Fallout 3

  • For those of you who have Xbox Live, you can download the new trailer that was debuted at E3 sometime soon.
  • You have the option of switching between both first & third person views.
  • The Pipboy 3000 can be used to listen to radio stations during the game.
  • The “Voltech Assisted Targeting System” is available so that you can queue up attacks on enemies rather than the manual aiming and firing.
  • The game is based in Washington D.C. and will have over 100 hours of gameplay.
  • There will be exclusive downloadable content for the Xbox 360

Resident Evil 5

  • Online co-op has been confirmed for the entire game.
  • Game will release on March 13th, 2009 (which also happens to be a Friday…)
  • Teamwork will be essential to get through the game.
  • If you do not have a friend playing with you, the AI will take control of the second character.

Fable 2

  • Online co-op has finally been confirmed.
  • Fable 2 is pretty much finished and will be out sometime in October.
  • Ambient orbs allow you to invite your friends in to your world when you come across them at any time.  They can also leave at anytime as well.

  • Flamethrower is introduced (this could be very interesting).
  • New 5 player co-op feature is revealed…called Horde, in which you and 4 other buddies fight off wave after wave of Locust.
  • NO four player campaign was announced…which saddens us tremendously.
  • Gears of War 2 will be coming out November 7th.

Xbox Live Arcade Games

  • Geometry Wars 2 Retro Evolved was announced supporting 4 players.
  • Galaga Legions will be released in August.
  • Portal Still Alive was announced as XBL exclusive and will be available sometime this fall.
  • A South Park XBL title was announced….no details on it yet though.
  • The original Banjo Kazooie will be coming to XBL sometime soon.

Lips

  • It’s been rumored for quite a while, but now it’s official.
  • The game will allow you to import songs from your iPod & Zune to use on the game.  Which makes it the first game ever to allow that.
  • The microphone is wireless and it has tilt functions.
  • It also had LED lights on the side that will light up while singing.
  • According to how you sing the microphone will light up accordingly.
  • The game will come with songs from different genres.
  • Duffy will be a featured artist on the game.   Her song “Mercy” will more than likely be on there considering she sang it during the games debut.

[E3]Grand Theft Auto Coming To…DS???

15 07 2008

So, this is by far to me Nintendo’s biggest announcement.  A GTA game coming to the DS.  The game is called GTA: Chinatown Wars, little is known about the game, save for that it will feature a new game engine, characters, and the series’ standard sandbox-style gameplay.

The GTA fanboy that I am will definately be getting this.  Rock on for getting one on the DS!
